Some of the music seemed to have a lower grade quality of sound, which made me think that the music was dubbed now a days./

This was one of the two BEST movies I have ever seen. The Truman Show was the other. I have seen Walk the Line twice and for some reason I just can't get it out of my mind. The performances of both Jocquain Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon were truly outstanding. I grew up believing that country music was not cool. I regret my immaturity in that arena and acknowledge that I have missed out on a lot of remarkable music. I am now making up for lost time by having bought the incredible soundtrack . I am afan of Johnny Cash for life. His music though melancholy somehow fills me with a sweet joy.Johnny left a legacy but thanks to Walk The Line and those marvellous actors they now have created a new legacy.

[...] I could have sworn that the musical numbers that Jocquain Phoenix performed in Walk the Line were dubbed. IMDB (thanks Alex) says otherwise. The trivia reports that Phoenix performed all the songs himself and learned guitar from scratch. Impressive! [...]

Wow, I thought I was sure that most of the musical performances were dubbed vocals. It may have been the theater that I saw the movie in, but some of the music seemed to have a lower grade quality of sound, which made me think that the music was dubbed. Very impressed then!

Yeah, both are live. In this case the energy of the live albums surpases most drawbacks.

Are both of those — "Johhny Cash at Folson Prison" & "Johnny Cash at San Quentin" — live albums? I like the idea of a classic Johhny Cash album but I find the fidelity of live albums usually pales in comparison to studio works :-/.
