I’ve done some homebrewing over the past few years. I don’t consider myself very good yet, but I know the general process and the equipment/ingredients required. If you’re ever interested in giving it a shot, I’d be happy to accompany you to Homebrew Headquarters (my favorite store! :) ) in Richardson and give you a basic lesson for your first batch.

That’s an interesting idea, Andy. Perhaps we could chat about that sometime — will you be in Pittsburgh over Thanksgiving or Christmas?

For what it’s worth, I was under the impression that homebrewing was time-consuming and took up a lot of space. Maybe I’m misinformed about that, though.

Why on earth aren’t you homebrewing yet? It’s clearly the next rung on the ladder of beer-nerdiness. I’d highly reccomend it, as it’s both a good time, and can get you some darn tasty beer, to your specifications. As Adrian might have told you, Randy and I made 4 batches for my wedding, and I’m going to be making some Hard Cider in the next week or so. You should definitely give it a shot.

I too agree that Milwaukee’s Best Light is MUCH better than Bud Light. On occasion I even enjoy the sweet nectar of Schlitz just to get a rise out of people. It’s sad that a great beer like Schlitz is shunned completely based on one bad batch. Come on, everyone has prepared a bad batch of food. Even Alex. :-)

No seriously, my favorite beer is Cerveza Tona. It’s like the Shiner of Nicaragua.

I too love Belgian-style beers as well as the occasional IPA. In fact, three of my favorite beers (and three purchases I made at Central Market this weekend) are Trois Pistoles, La Trappe Quadrupel, and Great Divide Hercules Double IPA. Anyway, thanks for the beer recommendations and for the indirect personal validation of my beer snobbery! :-)
