Food 911

I've recently discovered — and have been enjoying — Food 911 on the Food Network. In case you haven’t seen the show, the basic idea is that chef Tyler Florence helps ordinary people with preparing foods that they just can’t seem to get right. For instance, in one show, he helped someone cook pork chops, and in other he helped someone with rice.

I quite enjoy the show because it doesn’t concentrate on complicated foods — I could actually see myself preparing many of these foods. So, as opposed to other cooking shows, there’s not so much the effort of trying to remember specific recipes, as most of the show is just general tips for the dish.

From show on rice, I was intrigued by the brown rice with apples recipe. The name may not be very inventive, but it looked quite tasty: brown rice + apples + green pepper + walnuts + chicken + olive oil (and a few other ingredients). Were it not for the high carbs of the rice, I would be tempted to try the recipe quite soon. Nonetheless, I may still try it sometime.

The air times for the show are listed right on the show’s main page.

  8. If it’s true that each person will experience 15 minutes of fame I would like mine to be on food 911 but, alas, I have a crummy kitchen that’s in the process of being efficient. He’s fun and inventive.

  9. If Tyler repeated the recipe or at least have it on screen long enough for people to copy it sooo we Don’t miss anything- We don’t want to be a frustrated student But it is not easy if we write fast and can’t read our handwriting
but if it is printed- and on screen for awhile – greater-nobody does it on any channel

    and/or

How about the capabilities of accessing the recipes on line as the show is on and later so we don’t have to mess with writing but it can be send into our recipe file and just spend the time enjoying the conversation and visual experience.
Such as ask for recipe 571=Chicken Satay peanut sauce.

    Thanks

  14. loved the salmon recipe on Jan 4 tried to follow but some of it got away from me how do I get the proper recipe from this program?

  15. You can get all of Tyler’s recipes on the http://www.foodnetwork.com boards. You can do a search there or look for the program under all his food 911 shows. Also, for the Tony Danza show, he posts all the recipes from his guests at the web page for his show. You can search google for the tony danza show and it will come up.

  16. I really enjoy chef Tyler Florence but sometimes I think he tries to do too many recipes for novice cooks …. It’s alright if it is an experienced cook but the novices should only learn maybe two good recipes and concentrate on the technique for all the prep chopping preparing unusual veggies etc
However, I love the show and he is right up there with Rachel Ray… and I particularly enjoy his take on old traditional recipes even though they look very very yummy in their own right.

Thank you for your patience in reading all this.

  17. loved your show today and would like to have the receipes that you made, unfortunately I don’t know what they were called. One was with the lemons, one was with the blueberry and angel food cake and the third one I didn’t get to see as the phone rang and I had to answer Please send them to me as I can’t seem to find the show on the internet. Thanks date August 1, 2005

  18. Tyler Florence may have simple recipes but, he is so well educated. Rachael Ray is a lot of fun to watch, and sometimes fun to laugh at-haha. But Tyler Florence seems to do research on his dishes and is able to give an honest recipe to his viewers that are fool proof, and sure to work at home. I have just made Tyler’s hot and sour soup and it’s awesome!

  19. Would like the recipes for the show on Falafels. Recipes were for Pita Bread, Taboulie and Chick Pea Fritters.

    OR

Can you tell me where to find the recipes on-line?

Thanks a Million – Love the show.

    Floyd
