Oatmeal?

Over the years, I’ve read some good things about oatmeal and health, so I figured that I’d look into it. As it turns out, I’m not sure if I’ve ever actually had oatmeal, so I’m not sure if it tastes any good :-/. How is it?

On the other hand, I try to eat relatively healthily and exercise anyway; so, if the verdict is that oatmeal is gross, then I won’t feel bad about not eating it ;).

  1. Take it like a man. It *is* good for you. I take mine with just water. You should try it some time. (NO sugar, butter, or any extra fattening additives.)

  2. I personally like oatmeal quite a bit. It’s got good texture, and you can add all sorts of yummy stuff to it to mix things up.

(*bah*, ed k.–the fattening addetives are the fun part!)

    OATMEAL TASTE DISCOVERY HOWTO

    2. Buy oatmeal
    3. Take oatmeal home
    4. Follow directions on the box.
    5. Try oatmeal.

  4. Okay. Oatmeal itself is not all that great. Imagine yourself boiling that paste used to make paper-mache, pouring it into a bowl, and spooning it into your mouth. That’s just about accurate.

However, the good thing about oatmeal is that you can put raisins in it. Somehow, through the magic of chemistry, oatmeal + raisins = thick, yummy goodness.

  5. I make this good drink with oatmeal. first get
a half cup of milk and 3 tbls. of oatmeal and
1/4 of banana put it in the blender and drink
it. It tast great and it help to loose weight too
and good fiber. try it you like it!!!!!

  6. I personally like oatmeal. But one must be careful on how they cook it. I can’t stand the paste style oatmeal. The way to stay away from the paste is to add more oats to the same amount of water. You’ll get a wonderful non-glue that goes well with Rice Dream and bananas. (If you can’t stand Rice Dream, then suck it up and take it with just bananas)

  7. Oatmeal is Totally not fattening, yes it contains fat, but the fat it contains is the good fats that your body needs for you upcoming day of workout and or cardio drills. It is damn good filling breakfast when you add milk and a scoop of protein powder to it!! Umm cant wait until the mornin to get me a bowl.

  8. NO RANDOMIZED CLINICAL TRIAL HAS EVER SHOWN ANY REDUCTION IN CVD MORTALITY FROM SATURATED FAT RESTRICTION

none of the 26 long term prospective trials since 1963 ( All that have ever been done to date) examining the relationship betwen saturated fat and CVD , NONE have ever shwon any benefit from saturated fat restriction

    EVEN MORE IMPORTANTLY

NONE OF THE 18 RANDOMIZED TIGHTLY CONTROLLED CLINICAL TRIALS HAVE EVER, EVER SHOWN ANY REDUCTION IN CVD MORTALITY FROM SATURATED FAT RESTRICTION OR CHOLESTEROL LOWERING. NONE. ZERO. DID I MENTION, NONE?

NUMEROUS CULTURES AROUND THER WORLD EAT A DIET RICH IN ANIMAL AND OR TROPICAL FATS AND ENJOY VERY LOW RATES OF CVD

THE CHOLESTEROL THEORY IS AN UNTENABLE UNFOUNDED CROC

  9. Razwell,

Everone bodies are different. But one always adds fat to their bodies with almost everything they eat. One has to be able to know when to stop eating in America which I guess for Americans it is hard to do.

We live in a gluttonus culture in America. We have more food then we know what to do with. Are problem is when to stop eating……….

  10. I love oatmeal for brekkie. The flavor is neutral so it’s really more about texture – warm, mushy, kind of chewy. I buy it plain and add dried fruits (raisins, apricots, cranberries), fresh fruits (bananas, berries), and sometimes cinnamon or a drop of vanilla. In a pinch, I’ll stir in a tiny bit of jam to flavor it up. Keep it simple and healthy, though. Don’t go overboard by adding granola, maple syrup, peanut butter etc – it will get fattening fast. And yes, you can learn to love it plain!
