From a thread on MetaFilter, songs in commercials are becoming a phenomenon all their own — Cadillac is even becoming popular with some younger buyers due to their use of a Zepplin song in an ad.
There’re also websites that help people figure out the artists that performed songs heard in commercials. At first, I was happy to discover SongTitle.info as there’s one song from a GMC Yukon commercial that I’m still trying to track down (the commercial featured the hulking beasts driving in choreographed circles, synchronized-swimming style).
SongTitle has an entry for “Our Day Will Come” by Ruby & The Romantics (with a link to a sound sample) for the Yukon. But, after listening, I ruled that one out. I don’t hold it against SongTitle, but I suppose they just don’t have the details for that particular commercial.
Even Volkswagen has a CD of collected songs from its commercials. Some of the more obvious ones — such as Mr. Roboto — are on there, but I may just get it to discover some new techno artists (good techo is just so hard to find these days).
I was watching the TNT channel on comcast cable and there was a commercial for “Blood Work” and I was wondering what the song title is that plays as the commercial runs on? Some of the lyrics include, “…show me how it ends it’s alright…” It’s a popular rock song but I can’t seem to find the title anywhere. Can anyone help me?

Okay god this is so frustrating for me cuz here i thought i had the song (i thought it was lit’s times like this) but the song i’m looking for is not!! it was on cinemax awhile ago, like AWILE ago. and it sounds like grunge-rockish also like lit. all i can remember that one of the clippings of the new movies that was showing on cinemax during the time was harry potter2 (i think the the chamber of secrets?)and i also think spider man. the first one. OOOooo!! i also forgot to add one more thing i know about the song. i saw it on a music video on VH1 once (when i looked who it was by Vh1 obviously totally screwed up because they said it was Ja Rule and JLO- I’m Real .. GOD I HATE WHEN THAT HAPPENS!!@) well anyways the video was very gray. it was a white guy and he was digging. I think a grave? I think he was wearing overalls (like that helps..) and all i remember it was extremly cloudy and it was in like a desert, or a place with only dead trees, so the video was very gray and brown. I’m looking for help in identifying the death metal group that has a 5 second spot in a VW commercial. There are four men in a car, with the driver being a young guy and the other passengers management people with the company he works at. One of the manager turns on the radio and the young man’s CD starts to play ‘track 4.’ It’s only the drumming/instrumental part that plays of the song. Wow, you guys are good! Can you help me with my limited memory? Trying to find out who’s behind the music in a commercial that’s been running for the past few months. All I can remember is that it might be an anti-smoking campaign running in California, where at the end a little kid is sitting in the back seat. Inside the car alot of of bubbles are floating around, and the little kid is smiling, and the song is very soothing.
There’s a new hallmark commercial out, part of the song is lyrics and part of the song is a woman singing “ooooooooo” in different pitches. That same song used to play in another commercial and it was just the “oooooo” part. I really want to find this song cuz it reminds me of my dad.
