From a thread on MetaFilter, songs in commercials are becoming a phenomenon all their own — Cadillac is even becoming popular with some younger buyers due to their use of a Zepplin song in an ad.

There’re also websites that help people figure out the artists that performed songs heard in commercials. At first, I was happy to discover SongTitle.info as there’s one song from a GMC Yukon commercial that I’m still trying to track down (the commercial featured the hulking beasts driving in choreographed circles, synchronized-swimming style).

SongTitle has an entry for “Our Day Will Come” by Ruby & The Romantics (with a link to a sound sample) for the Yukon. But, after listening, I ruled that one out. I don’t hold it against SongTitle, but I suppose they just don’t have the details for that particular commercial.

Even Volkswagen has a CD of collected songs from its commercials. Some of the more obvious ones — such as Mr. Roboto — are on there, but I may just get it to discover some new techno artists (good techo is just so hard to find these days).

    Does anyone know the name of that song that is played during that atlanta(i believe it was atalnta) commercial.
    THe little girl is sitting on the steps all sad and holds out here hand, then a rain drop falls into her hand and there is a beautiful scene of what i believe is atlanta.

  3. Yeah I so want to know the artist and song in that one 24 fitness commercial. Other people brought it up too but I don’t think it’s been found out yet. The commercial with the sentences on everyone’s shirt. I think I can make out “international corporate superstar” as the first few lyrics said. I love the song even for 20 seconds hehe.

  5. I’m looking for the song from a Universal Orlando commercial. The spot begins “Attention Workaholics”. Mostly just a guitar song and some “ohhhh, ohhhh” kicks in towards the end.

    Also, there’s a Pontiac G6 commercial song I’m looking for. Not the one with “Kasabian – Club Foot”. One of the lines in this one is “The sun is gonna rise in a couple miles”(?) to that effect.

    Anyone looking for the Nissan Xterra song, it’s “Span – Stay as You Are”

I know that this is probably already mentioned somewhere in this mess of blogs, but I was wondering if anyone knew which song they used in the kraft dinner commerical where the two guys want to make kraft dinner but they aren’t allowed to bring portable burners into the dorm, so they make it on the radiator and it gets so hot that the girls take of their shirts… it goes domething like “so hot hot, hot hot” lol…i’ve been wondering what that song was for a long time! thanks!!!

  10. To Chris #817. The Song you are looking for is by Bobby Darin. It’s called “Beyond the Sea”. You can find it at Lyrics.com and print it. It was driving me crazy too.

  11. I’m looking for the song from the new GM Hot Button Contest Commercial. (The one with the space shuttle countdown and the guy doesn’t press the button, the announcer says “Saving that push”) The ong has a slight 80s beat to it, but i have no clue about the name of it. Any help would be great.

The song from TONY HAWKS UNDERGROUND comes from a guy named ‘spikoli’ Just like fast times at ridgemont high.He does a radio show out of council bluffs Iowa. called 89.7 the river.It was a song he wrote and performed for the station.The song makes many refrences to omaha and council bluffs. Carter lake next to the omaha airport where kiki apoaches him and shes all ahhh and i’;m all ya whatever.

    “they get what they deserve” were part of the lyrics.

It was a commercial where this guy gest up from the bed then runs in this narrow black hall way then jump off a dark ledge cause the road ends off.. I need to find the song in the background with a woman’s voice and it goes something like ” let the lights go out,,, and beautiful world” or something like,, thanks alot!:D

Heya, I would like to know the first song they play on an MTV commercial advertising for MTV where a guy is in an office with cubicles and he is talking about everyone having an upset look on his/her face. He says he tries to look happy. Then there is a guy at a gas pump yelling at another guy and the original guy yells at him. The other says “I was yelling at him.” and the original say “and I was yelling at you.” Then the original goes home to his wife which is watching tv and asks him how his day was. ~If anyone could help me out, please email me at haizydaze89@yahoo.com .   25. hey all! um theres this commercial from a couple of years ago. its this car commerial and this guy is trying to catch this wedding cause i think he’s in love with the girl. and he stops at the train tracks and stuff. and theres this really pretty song playing in the background. it sounds like its with a piano. it doesn’t have any words. if you know any details about the commercial (name of car in commercial, song, title) it would be greatly appreciated…

  30. I FIGURED IT OUT! The song from the ADIDAS commercial in which a guy wakes up, puts on ADIDAS shoes from under the bed and goes down a lit up path, ending up on the ceiling, then back in bed is called “Hello World” by Squeaky Clean featuring Karen O. from the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs.

  32. I would love to find out the song from a car commercial. It is the one where the old lady steals the yellow car from a young lady and then drives around picking up men and dancing in fields. “She’s my lady, she’s my baby…” Does anyone know who sings it or where I can find it?

    It starts out by saying “Open your eyes, we’ll take you to a”(not sure what the last part of the chorus it)

    and ends with “Open your eyes & see all that’s me”(i think it’s me, might be something else though)
    i tried googling it & looking on ad sites but found nothing
    normally it has a Lara Croft Tomb Raider clip in it

  39. Okay, I really need your help with this one…

    There was a car commercial about a year ago where these people were driving a black car in the middle of a night on their way to a beautiful little party that looked like it was on a little porch. I remember there was a shot of the moon in it and the man singing the song mentions the moon. I do not remember what car company it was, but for some reason I feel inclined to say it had to do with Volkswagon, although that may be completely off. It may have had something to do with a navigation system. The song itself is one man playing the guitar and singing… it is very folk sounding and very beautiful. I believe I remember seeing a program on VH1 where they mentioned that the artist who sings that song got a boost in his record sails due to his song being in the commercial. He must’ve been popular during the 60’s and 70’s… unfortunately I did not write down his name and I forgot it… anything would be greatly appreciated! I shall continute looking also… it’s haunting me.

  44. Hey everyone…hopefully someone (Maybe GnT)haha can help me out….there are two songs I’m looking for. The first one is from the most recent Molson commercial for their new drink Kick…its not the one with Right Here Right Now by Fatboy slim, its newer than that…The other one is by Carlsberg beer, its in a commercial where everyone who is about to have a beer gets interrupted by more people…the lyrics start off “If it’s good enough for you, it’s good enough for me…” I think they may be a British band, but i’m not sure!     I’m looking for a song, but I’m not even sure which car brand it was. I haven’t seen the commercial ever since I started looking for that song, ironic. What I remember about the car is that the beginning looks like a Windows Media Player visualization, background black, and the visualization is red. And there is this a male voice singing, the car appears to morphe different ways, and in the end you get to see it. I’m not sure if its saturn, pontiac or what. But I loved the song, the guys has a calm voice, the music is nice and he sort of seems to drag on the words, as if laziness had taken over… I think I heard these key words somewhere “the wind in my hair” & “my wheels”. I’d really appreciate someone who could reply to this posting :D. Thank you.
