Songs in Commercials

From a thread on MetaFilter, songs in commercials are becoming a phenomenon all their own — Cadillac is even becoming popular with some younger buyers due to their use of a Zepplin song in an ad.

There’re also websites that help people figure out the artists that performed songs heard in commercials. At first, I was happy to discover SongTitle.info as there’s one song from a GMC Yukon commercial that I’m still trying to track down (the commercial featured the hulking beasts driving in choreographed circles, synchronized-swimming style).

SongTitle has an entry for “Our Day Will Come” by Ruby & The Romantics (with a link to a sound sample) for the Yukon. But, after listening, I ruled that one out. I don’t hold it against SongTitle, but I suppose they just don’t have the details for that particular commercial.

Even Volkswagen has a CD of collected songs from its commercials. Some of the more obvious ones — such as Mr. Roboto — are on there, but I may just get it to discover some new techno artists (good techo is just so hard to find these days).

    im pretty sure the song is “Believer” by the Rouge Traders. but im not sure about the artist…

  6. the old seaworld commerical is The Child Inside – Qkumba Zoo. but the new one goes something like “heyy yaa, heyy yaa” and i don’t know what it is!! can anyone help/ know what i’m talking about??

  7. ok..that pepsi commercial with jimmy fallon and parker posey dancing in the street (looks like new york) and they get on a cab and jimmy throws her in the air and she never comes down..the song is called dancefloor by like the stylophonics or something really close to that. the song is really catchy but there are no lyrics..

  10. Anyone familiar with the new Nike Basketball commercial with all their stars? This is a new commercial and they are all dressed in white at the end of it. It sounds like a Dipset song, but I am not sure if that is the group. This song gets me pumped.

  12. I was wondering if anybody knew the song from the new Dove, campaign for real beauty commercial. It’s about how they gave a camera to 30 girls and they all took pictures of how they see beauty. The song’s something like “you are prettier than all the other girls in the magazines…I’m the lucky one” something along the lines of that. I hope some one can help me!

  13. I am also looking same mtvU advertisement song as Sydo (2270). The one that shows a girl’s hand writing on a wall. The lyrics are as follows:
    “Why don’t I pick up the phone and talk to you about the places i’ve been.

    Also, I’m looking for another mtvU song, its the “Half of Us” advertisement with the Sia song at the end.
    This one has a guy in his loft trying to type a paper and the song playing sounds like a guitar instrumental; I don’t know if there are lyrics or not.

    If anyone knows of either of these songs, please help! Thank You.

    There’s a new Kraft Commercial…the words are only “ooh ooh ooh” It’s a really nice song…

    Anyone have any ideas? I only noted that it was kraft and didn’t even take note of the product.

  19. Does anyone know who sings the song to the new jcpenny commercial. It’s the one that at the beggining shows the girl whiping her mirror because of the steam and the beggining of the song goes i say and so say i or something like that.

    Well if anybody does know who sings it will you pleeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaasssssssssssssssssseeeeeeeeeeeeee reply to this with the name of the artist.

  23. I want to know who sung the song from the Ford fusion commercial. The one that was out last year. 2005.It’s not Kelly Clarkson. This one is a male.
    It’s driving me nuts looking for it.

    The commercial had the car driving around in this surreal town, with alot of pinks and magenta colors.

  35. Its not soul II soul, its a young woman singing… it starts like (8)you can try…(8) and the chorus is keep on moving… a baby fells down a the beggining of the commercial! its impossible to find!

  38. I second that inquery about the orlando.com commercial… I think the commercial is the one that starts off with a woman on a rollercoaster (big thunder mt. train ride) and she comes out the tunnel as a young girl. Anyway.. the song’s cool.. so a little help, please??

  42. What’s the song on the new M&M’s commercial, it’s got horns and the only other thing I can tell you was it on was on Wooldor Sockbat’s montage on a season finale episode of Drawn Together.

    I really dig the horns :/

  44. Here in NZ some of the mitsubushi ad’s have ruined decent songs, by rthe amount of times the ad repeats and therefore your forces to hear the song all the time. Its so frustrating.

  45. Hey, I’m kind of desperate. Umm… I believe I am trying to locate the name of the song for a new phone commercial, I think. I’m pretty sure it was for cingular, but I’m not sure. Anyway, the commercial consisted of a girl walking down the street, and there was like animated rainbows, and butterflies, and guitars blooming up everywhere. at the end there was a phone shown, I think it was the Youngsters, ir Youthclub, someting like that, but I really am not sure.

  46. Hi…I heard this song in a Bacardi commercial while at the Bacardi distillery in Puerto Rico. It sounds like a type of Latin salsa song and real upbeat. The commercial has people at a club/party dancing and the rum is flowing everywhere and dancing. Would anyone happen to know what this song is? I cant find it anywhere. Thanks!

  48. Does any one know the song from the NEW CINGULAR commercial? There is only whistling from them but I know they are only a guy and a girl band 2 people only and I think it’s all electronic. The lyrics are “we don’t have to talk about the old folks, talkin bout the old stuff, and we don’t have to talk about he young ones, talk about the young stuff. When were together we just wanna talk about me and you. The chorus has whistling.
