From a thread on MetaFilter, songs in commercials are becoming a phenomenon all their own — Cadillac is even becoming popular with some younger buyers due to their use of a Zepplin song in an ad.

There’re also websites that help people figure out the artists that performed songs heard in commercials. At first, I was happy to discover SongTitle.info as there’s one song from a GMC Yukon commercial that I’m still trying to track down (the commercial featured the hulking beasts driving in choreographed circles, synchronized-swimming style).

SongTitle has an entry for “Our Day Will Come” by Ruby & The Romantics (with a link to a sound sample) for the Yukon. But, after listening, I ruled that one out. I don’t hold it against SongTitle, but I suppose they just don’t have the details for that particular commercial.

Even Volkswagen has a CD of collected songs from its commercials. Some of the more obvious ones — such as Mr. Roboto — are on there, but I may just get it to discover some new techno artists (good techo is just so hard to find these days).

  4. I am looking for the song from a cell phone commercial. I believe it is the Motorazr. It shows the different colors the phone comes in. The blue color is diving into water then the red, yellow, green, etc. And it flashes for a moment the name of the song something Sun. It is a short title. Can anyone help? Thank You!

  7. Hi I’d like to know the name of a song that’s currently in a commercial for Chevrolet. In the commerical there’s a girl who climbs on a car, which her friends are in and the song in the commercial sounds kinda jazzy and the main line is “something tells me i’m into something good”.

  8. The song is a cover of an Herman’s Hermits song from the 1960s. It’s possible that even they were covering the song from an earlier recording. I just don’t remember it from an earlier group. I’m pretty sure “Something good” was on the soundtrack album from the 1966 Hermits’ film “Hold On.” Herman (Peter Noon) was singing it about his love interest Shelly Fabares, who also played the girlfriend/wife in the TV show “Coach.”

  12. Does anyone know the composer and name of the cello music featured in a new FedEx commercial? The commercial tells of a cello-playing kid who’s off to camp but loses the cello along the way. FedEx thereby intervenes. My confusion on the music is driving me crazy! Thanks much!

I’m always thinking of you, but I can’t think of right words to say.” That song has been driving me crazy! It sounds like Regina Spektor to me.”

    I’m not sure if it’s Regina or not, but the track “How Can I Tell You” was originally recorded by Cat Stevens in 1971 for his album “Teaser and the Firecat”. I looked for track in the iTunes Music Store, and then for other artists that had covered it, but couldn’t find the exact artist from the commercial. I hope this helps a little bit.

    Does anyone know the name of the song from the new razor commercial? Where the dude is geting of of the train, cuts the chics dress, and ultimetly they start stripping eachother with there phones, untill the girl gets back on the train and he throws her phone to her and it sticks in the wall. All i can ever catch is the very beginning of the song, it goes “hello little boys” and then something about “crawling up the wall and (some word i dont know) down your face”.   40. ok there was this sing about 3 years ago… a guy in a suite on the street then he gets out the cardboard to breakdance….. it was like a tecno song and it started out slow… i can not think of ne of the lyrics… and i think that was the music video for it… i think the comercial there were ppl dancing inthe car like a car of girls then a car of guy… its making me so madt that i cant think of it… it became a really popular song too

  41. hey guys need your help with this. i want to know the title and the one who sang this song in a KODAK commercial years years ago between the year 1997 to 2000 i think, and it has this following song lines : “These are the moments… i’m catching them everyday … it won’t last … these are the moments everyday … my life has passed me by” . Those are the few lines that I remembered i love the song… and I think a group of kids voices are singing that song with a lady’s voice of course… thanks guys!!!!
